L’81ª edizione dei Golden Globe, i premi cinematografici e televisivi assegnati dalla Hollywood Foreign Press Association, si è svolta nella notte al Beverly Hilton Hotel di Beverly Hills, California, trasmessa in diretta sulla CBS e in streaming su Paramount+.
La cerimonia, presentata dal comico Jo Koy, ha visto trionfare Oppenheimer di Christopher Nolan che si è portato a casa ben cinque premi, tra cui miglior film, miglior regia e miglior attore protagonista e non protagonista (Cillian Murphy e Robert Downey Jr.). Barbie di Greta Gerwig, nonostante le 9 nomination, ha dovuto accontentarsi di due premi minori: miglior canzone (per On the Off Beat di Billie Eilish) e miglior risultato al box-office.
Nella categoria miglior commedia, Povere creature! di Yorgos Lanthimos ha conquistato meritatamente il Golden Globe, superando proprio Barbie e May December di Todd Haynes. Il miglior film d’animazione è stato aggiudicato a Il ragazzo e l’airone di Hayao Miyazaki, mentre il miglior film straniero è andato ad Anatomia di una caduta di Justine Triet, vincitore della Palma d’Oro al Festival di Cannes.
Infine, la migliore attrice protagonista in una serie drammatica è stata Lily Gladstone per Killers of the Flower Moon di Scorsese, mentre Emma Stone è la migliore attrice protagonista in una serie commedia o musicale per Povere creature!.
Nel campo delle serie televisive, Succession ha ottenuto il premio come miglior serie drammatica, mentre The Bear e Beef hanno trionfato rispettivamente nella categoria miglior serie commedia o musicale e miglior miniserie.
