Durante la notte sono stati assegnati i premi della 78esima edizione dei Golden Globe, presentati a distanza dalle due conduttrici Tina Fey e Amy Poehler e con un red carpet “virtuale”.
Jodie Foster è la miglior attrice non protagonista per The Mauritanian; a Chadwick Boseman va il premio postumo per il miglior attore drammatico in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom mentre il film che trionfa è Nomadland, migliore pellicola drammatica e miglior regia a Chloé Zhao.
Tra i premiati della cerimonia che precede la notte degli Oscar c’è anche un pizzico d’Italia: Laura Pausini ha vinto il Golden Globe per la Miglior canzone con Io sì da La vita davanti a sé.
Per le serie TV, trionfa The Crown (con 4 premi, tra cui miglior serie drama e migliore attore e attrice protagonisti).
